The Sacramento Speed Baseball Club is a competitive youth travel baseball program based in Sacramento, Ca. We began to form in the fall of 2012 for the purpose of playing tournaments at a high level, developing players, and creating an amazing baseball experience for both players and families.
 

The following are answers to frequently asked questions about Sacramento Speed Baseball ...

 

Q: What organization is Sacramento Speed affiliated with?
 

A: Sacramento Speed is an independent program, unaffiliated with any league or organization.  Speed plays in mostly USSSA tournaments and plays in tournaments organized by Triple Crown Sports ,Youth Baseball Nationals and Perfect Game.

 

Q: What age levels are available?
 

A: Currently, Sacramento Speed has teams from ages 11 – 15, all teams playing at the AAA or Majors level. In 2016 we will be expanding and adding AA team in each age group.
 

Q: What is the difference between AA, AAA, and Majors?
 

A: 

*Team Classification per Lance Boullin, State USSSA Director

AA:   Beginning Level Teams.   Small Market Teams with players from one or a few towns.  Teams with near and below .500 records.  Teams who score about the same amount of runs as they give up or less.    Teams that probably have not won a tournament.   Teams that play mostly locally.

AAA:  Middle Level Teams.    Middle Market Teams possible pulling players from more than one city.   Academy Teams.  Teams that have been together for a while.  Teams that generally have over .667 records vs. AA teams.  Teams that have near .500 records vs. other AAA teams.   Players that hope to start high school varsity and possible play small market college one day.  Teams that may have won a tournament or dominated the competition at the AA level.

Majors:  Experienced Teams.  High Market Teams that may pull from a large area.  Teams that seek out the best competition and play at an elite level with players hoping to play college level or beyond.  Generally have won AAA or Open Tournaments and have higher than .667 records vs. lower competition.

 

Q: What level does Sacramento Speed play at?

 

A: Sacramento Speed was created to play at a high Triple-AAA or Majors level. 2016 Speed will expand and will include AA teams at each age level to develop into future AAA/Majors teams.

 

 

Q: How many players are on a Sacramento Speed Team?

 

A: Sacramento Speed will field a roster of 11 players, though an exception can be made for 12-13 at the coaches discretion.

 

Q: When are tryouts for 2016 Sacramento Speed?

 

A: Tryouts will be on Dec 13th, 2016 at Margret Azevedo Park
10U – 11U: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
12U:           11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
13U – 14U: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

                 

 

Q: What type of player is ideal for Sacramento Speed?

 

A: The ideal Sacramento Speed candidate has already played tournament baseball and is a high performer. We’re looking for coachable, selfless, team-oriented players to add to our already successful teams. In 2016 we will begin our AA program which will allow players who may have not played travel ball or are less experienced to play and enjoy the experience of playing travel baseball.

 

Q: How many tournaments will Sacramento Speed play in during a given season?

 

A: We anticipate playing in a tournament every other weekend beginning in Jan, and ending  late June. 11U and 12U players are an exception depending on Little League commitments.

 

Q: What tournaments will Sacramento Speed participate in during the 2016 season?

 

A: Tournament registration has begun, Sacramento Speed will play tournaments associated with Triple Crown, USSSA and All World during the 2016 season. We are also play single tournaments in Omaha ,Arizona and Los Angeles.

 

Q: How much travel can be expected for Sacramento Speed?

 

A: Practice will be held in Rocklin, CA and most tournaments will be within the Sacramento – Bay Area. We expect to travel to at least a few overnight stay tournaments in Los Angeles and one or two out of state during the 2016 season.

 

 

 

Q: At what facility do Sacramento Speed practice?

 

A: Sacramento Speed practice at Extra Innings, an indoor facility in Rocklin, CA and practice outside at Margret Azevedo Park in Rocklin.

 

Q: How much does it cost to play for Sacramento Speed?

 

A: Speed has a monthly fee of $100 a month and tournaments cost are $85 for 2 day and $100 for three day. If Speed plays in an out of town tournament there is an additional $20 coach’s hotel fee.  The $100 a month fee go towards 2 weekly practices and open hitting at Extra Innings in Rocklin.

 

 

Q: Is Sacramento Speed a 501(c)3 organization?

 

A: Sacramento Speed is not currently filed as a non-profit, but the plan is to file soon. We are not looking to make a profit.
